Remember when The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s Aunt Viv was all of a sudden…a different Aunt Viv?

Well, 25 years later we finally know how Will Smith felt about the sudden switch-up. In an interview with BBC radio’s A.Dot, Smith is asked about the first Aunt Viv versus the second and he diplomatically says, “Both of the Aunt Vivs were really, really fantastic.

Keep in mind Will says this just weeks after Janet Hubert, the first Aunt Viv, went at Jada Pinkett Smith regarding boycotting the Oscars with stingers like, “Miss Thing, does your man not have a mouth of his own with which to speak?

Smith went on to compliment Hubert on her artistry:

I think when you make a show, any time that you make a change it’s going to be excruciating and painful. I think that Janet Hubert brought a really powerful dignity to the show. I think she’s brilliant. I think as an artist there’s so many things that she does. She sings, she dances, she’s like a really powerful artist. I loved what she brought to the Fresh Prince.”

Will also mentioned that he still plans on boycotting the Oscars and even jokes about possibly giving Jaden and Willow too much creative freedom.

Jaden is one hundred percent fearless,” Smith said. “He will do anything. As a parent it’s scary. But he is willing to live and die by his own artistic decisions. He just doesn’t concern himself with what people think.”

If Jaden was creatively stifled, then we wouldn’t have gems like this:

And where would the world be without philosophical greats like Jaden Smith and DJ Khaled?
