Good news for those who’ve been waiting and eagerly anticipating JT of City Girls release from prison. The rapper, born Jatavia Johnson, was sentenced to an almost two-year sentence for felony identity theft charges. Now she’s set to be home even sooner than her original release date of March 21, 2020 according to her label boss, Pierre “Pee” Thomas.

JT and her legal management filed a request for her to be home early last month and it was reportedly denied. However, in a recent interview, Thomas said she’ll be “released within the next 90 days,” without offering much information beyond that.

“Leading up until this point, it was like a roller coaster, we had times where we would be sad, we had times when we would be happy,” fellow City Girl Yung Miami told Complex last year as the group prepared for JT’s incarceration. “But I just feel like it’s a minor setback for a major comeback, ‘cause when artists go to the jail they come out bigger, like Kodak.”

In the past year, City Girls have exploded even as the #FreeJT movement pressed on. After appearing on “In My Feelings” featuring Drake, the duo dropped their Girl Code debut album featuring smash singles such as “Act Up” and “Twerk” featuring Cardi B.

Earlier this month, Yung Miami revealed that she was expecting her second child and delivered a memorable performance at Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash.
