46 people complained of headaches and nausea due to an odor in their building and five individuals went to the hospital.
The Charlotte Fire Department explained construction workers applied tar on the roof of the Southwest Charlotte Business Park. The smell then pulled through the HVAC system.
The building was later tested for hazardous chemicals and now safe for the return of the worker.
