NASCAR made an announcement that they are now banning the use of the confederate flag in any NASCAR “official capacity”. This comes after the public’s outpouring of support and a call for action against racism in America. The news came today that they would ban the confederate fan as well as change the guidelines that would require team members to stand for the national anthem. We caught the news over at CBS Sports.com. They’re reporting:
A statement from Nascar:
“The presence of the confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry. Bringing people together around a love for racing and the community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special. The display of the confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties.”
