According to reports shots rang out at a block party taking place on Beatties Ford Road. Folks on the scene report that there were over 100 shots and according to The Herald, three people were fatally shot and dozens more injured in a crowd of over 400 people. This was a tragic turn of events of what seemed to have started out as a peaceful celebration. The Herald reports:
“Five people were killed in Charlotte between 10 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. Monday, raising the city’s homicide total to 50 in 13 hours. No arrests have been made in the cases, Charlotte-Mecklebnburg police said. Three of the victims were killed early Monday in a mass shooting on Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. Police said more than 100 shots were fired into a crowd of over 400 people at an outdoor party.”
