Despite the drama surrounding LIVE! with Kelly and Michael, the morning talk show won a Daytime Emmy Award on Sunday. Neither Ripa nor Strahan were there to accept the award. Dr. Oz accepted it on their behalf. “I don’t think they’re here….will accept on their behalf,” he said. “Kelly and Michael will share it!” According to reports, there has been tension on the set ever since Strahan announced he’d be leaving the show to take on a full-time position at Good Morning America. Strahan was initially supposed to leave the show in August to start his new gig, but his last day has been moved up to May 13. Read more.

Joy-Ann Reid to Fill Melissa Harris-Perry’s Slot on MSNBC

Television host Joy-Ann Reid will take over Melissa Harris-Perry’s former weekend slot on MSNBC. The network recently announced that Reid will host a new program that will air on Saturdays and Sundays. “MSNBC viewers crave not only the facts, but also in-depth discussion and analysis from a range of perspectives,” said MSNBC President Phil Griffin in a statement. “There is no one better equipped than Joy to lead this new project, and create a place for the kind of unique discussion our audience has come to expect.” Reid has a history with MSNBC; she joined the network as a contributor in 2011 and hosted a weekday show called The Reid Report until 2015. She is excited about her new position. “Melissa did a show that was incredibly valuable,” she said. “Instead of trying to replace it, we will fill the space with something new; something compelling, and something that adds to the conversation.” The show will make its debut on May 7 and will air from 10 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. on the weekends. Nashville Reporter Fired for Prince-Themed Sports Report

A Nashville sports reporter lost his job after delivering a Prince-themed sports report. WZTV reporter Dan Phillips thought that it would be clever to intertwine Prince’s legacy with sports news, but it rubbed many people the wrong way. On April 21, the day Prince died, Phillips delivered a sports roundup that mentioned the names and made references to Prince’s greatest songs. “This is what it sounds like when doves cry and when Mike Fisher scores!,” he said. “And clock hits zero — party over, oops, out of time.” Many viewers believed Phillips was being discourteous and he was fired on Friday. “First of all, I want to thank everyone for the kind words, comments and positive feedback on this tribute I did to Prince last week,” he posted on Facebook. “Unfortunately, there were apparently some viewers, as well as management at the station, who did not feel the same way. They felt I was insensitive. And as a result, I was terminated today.” Read more.

Ray Lewis’ Son Arrested for Criminal Sexual Conduct

Former Baltimore Ravens star Ray Lewis’ son has been charged with criminal sexual conduct. According to Conway, South Carolina police, there was a warrant put out for Ray Lewis III’s arrest last Monday and he turned himself in on Friday. Lewis was released two hours after turning himself in on $10,000 bond. On Jan. 23, two women reportedly checked themselves into a hospital and asked to be tested with rape kits. Once the investigation was over on April 23, there was a warrant put out for Lewis’ arrest in connection to the crime. His lawyers released a statement following the arrest. “In response to the charge of criminal sexual conduct, Ray Lewis III states that he is not guilty of any criminal conduct. He is not guilty because no crime was committed. The sex with the accuser was entirely consensual. At the time of the sexual encounter, the two girls involved were fully conscious of what they were doing and knowingly consented,” read the statement. “We are confident that a thorough evaluation of the facts will show that there was no crime committed.” Read more.
