Speculation of a new Erykah Badu mixtape has been floating around for sometime now. However, during a newly published interview with Noisey, Badu herself revealed that she plans on releasing the much-anticipated project next week.
The mixtape, titled But You Caint Use My Phone, is named after a lyric from the singer’s 1997 single “Tyrone.”
Among the songs set to appear on the tape is Badu’s cover of Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” which she premiered earlier this month.
Elsewhere in the interview, Badu weighed in on the recent rift between Drake and Meek Mill.
“Loved it,” the singer replied when asked for her thoughts on the beef. “That’s what hip-hop is about to me. I liked that. That’s the way we’re supposed to handle it! I encourage it.”
