Hornets owner, Michael Jordan took the time to record a video for Kobe Bryant that aired before Monday night’s match-up between the Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets.
As you may recall, the Charlotte Hornets selected 17-year-old Kobe Bryant with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. However, this decision only lasted fifteen days as he expressed that he did not wish to play for the Hornets and wanted to play for the Lakers instead.
Luckily for him, the 17-year-old Bryant made a lasting impression on then-Lakers general manager Jerry West, who immediately foresaw potential in Bryant’s basketball ability during pre-draft workouts. As they say, the rest is history…
Bryant, 37, is set to retire at the end of the 2015–16 season.
