Do you remember this image from the Ferguson protests following the murder of black teenager Mike Brown? Police say Crawford’s death appears to be from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to St. Louis Dispatch.

Crawford’s father, Edward Sr., confirmed his son’s death saying his son’s mother called him and they went together to the morgue early Friday to identify their son’s body. Crawford Sr. was reportedly in tears Friday.

Police have not yet released the victim’s name, but a detective confirmed the Hyde Park shooting in the 1400 block of Salisbury Street. At this time, no other details are immediately available.

The Dispatch reports, Crawford’s father, 52, believes the shooting was accidental and, not intentional. “I don’t believe it was a suicide,”  he said after speaking with his son just two days ago. Apparently investigators have not been speaking much with the family. “They’re being hush-hush,” the father said.

While police say it was self-inflicted, they say that doesn’t conclude if the victim shot himself on purpose or if the gun discharged accidentally. The case is being handled by district detectives, not homicide investigators.

Edward Crawford, Jr., 27, was the father of four children, and was training for a job at a Schnucks warehouse.
