Representative Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) addresses the importance of voting rights for disadvantaged communities, the fight for inclusion, and equal representation for America's island territories during this week's edition of the CBC's Message to America.
According to Rep. Waters, the 2008 financial crisis "exposed weaknesses in our regulatory framework" and "brought to the forefront the widespread disparities that exist in a variety of aspects of life for African American families."
Rep. Conyers, a Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, explained, “The number of high poverty urban neighborhoods in the nation’s largest cities have tripled over the last 40 years.”
