Five high school students were arrested for allegedly spray-painting hate messages on walls at a rival high school. They face up to a year in prison.

Louisiana House Bill 953, or the 'Blue Lives Matter Bill," extends provisions under the current hate crime law, covering police officers, EMS workers and first responders.

Pastor Jordan Brown, founder of the Church of Open Doors in Austin, said in a statement that the grocery chain "did nothing wrong. I was wrong to pursue this matter and use the media to perpetuate this story.”

Dylann Roof has been charged with 33 federal hate crime and firearms charges for the shooting. The case is expected to go to trial July 11.

Campus police released alerts online via Twitter and Facebook assuring the campus was safe. The tweets, posted by the account @keanuagainstblk, were sent shortly after a peaceful rally against racial bias on college campuses.
